Intermediate Ballet
Ages 9-12 - Strength
In Intermediate Ballet, we continue to implement all learned in Elementary Ballet and expand upon it. Instead of two hands on the barre we begin to move to one hand for most exercises. We learn the full barre sequence all professional dancers use. In center, more exciting jumps are added as well as traveling movements and pirouettes. We learn to use the space around us and to move with purpose while developing artistically. Here we strengthen our bodies so we can move to the most exciting advanced level. Longer balances and strengthening jumps across the room are emphasized. Pre-pointe exercises are started and pointe may begin once a strength and alignment test is passed.
